چکیده

of differentiated neoplastic Schwann cells. The majority arise from peripheral nerves in the head and neck region and nerves of the upper extremity (1). Visceral schwannomas, in particular, juxtadrenal and adrenal schwannomas are exceedingly rare (2,3,4). Adrenal myelolipomas are composed of mature adipose and hematopoetic elements that resemble bone marrow. It was first described by Grieke in 1905, and was named “myelolipoma” by Oberling in 1929 (5,6). Here we describe a giant juxtadrenal and adrenal schwannoma with concurrent adrenal myelolipoma mimicking an adrenal malignant tumor.

Adrenal Myelolipoma: A Case Report

Adrenal myelolipoma is a rare benign tumor that is composed of hematopoietic cells and mature fat. Mostly, these nonfunctioning tumors are distinguished incidentally during autopsy or radiologic investigations. Here, we report a case of 46-year-old man presented with nonspecific abdominal pain for one year, who had right adrenal mass with fat density detected by radiologic investigation. Histop...

Giant adrenal myelolipoma associated with 21-hydroxylase deficiency: unusual association mimicking an androgen-secreting adrenocortical carcinoma.

The objective of this study was to describe a case of giant myelolipoma associated with undiagnosed congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) due to 21-hydroxylase (21OH) deficiency. Five seven year-old male patient referred with abdominal ultrasound revealing a left adrenal mass. Biochemical investigation revealed hyperandrogenism and imaging exams characterized a large heterogeneous left adrenal m...

Bilateral Giant Adrenal Myelolipomas: a case report and literature review

Adrenal myelolipoma is a rare benign adrenal neoplasm presenting in 0.08%-0.4% of population based on autopsy series. It is of adrenal origin composed of mature adipose tissue and a variable amount of hematopoietic elements (myeloid and erythroid cells). Most patients are asymptomatic, and the lesion is discovered incidentally at autopsy or on imaging studies performed for other reasons. Most t...

From the radiologic pathology archives: Adrenal tumors and tumor-like conditions in the adult: radiologic-pathologic correlation.

Advanced imaging often reveals adrenal tumors and tumor-like conditions in both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients. When adrenal disease is clinically suspected, cross-sectional imaging can be helpful in evaluating the etiology of the patient's symptoms. When adrenal disease is incidentally identified, what the clinician and patient really want to know is whether the findings are benign or m...
